Clutch
Presentation
The clutch is a device between the engine and the wheels of the vehicle, which can provide a connection or not.
It is a series of friction discs and a series of smooth steel discs (sometimes aluminium) in an alternate assembly: each friction disc is placed between 2 smooth discs.
Technical information
Our clutches come mainly from the factory PREMIER in the following versions:
- CK : Set of standard friction discs
- CSK: Set of reinforced springs
New in 2009: DIAPHRAGM springs for sportive motorcycles - RK : friction discs kit + smooth steel disc + springs
- PSC: friction discs kit Kevlar + springs
- PSK: New in 2009! Friction discs kit Kevlar + smooth steel disc + reinforced springs
For sportive or racing motorcycles we recommend the Kevlar friction discs (kits PSC or PSK). The smooth steel discs need to be replaced only rarely, it is above all the friction discs which wear off. However, for several sportive motorcycles the factory has started the production of a new range of PSK smooth steel discs.
Furthermore there are currently 6 models of diaphragm springs available which replace the classical springs. These diaphragms are sold separately.
The RK kits are manly used for cross, enduro, quad and trail and are from outstanding quality!
We also have a part of the ADIGE clutch range on stock that have an excellent quality for KTM, HVA and several Italian motorcycles. Adige is the supplier for most of the Italian brands.
Practical information
To guarantee a maximum efficiency and avoid a premature wear off the assembly and the adjustment have to be carried out by a qualified mechanic.
To check the clutch the following points need to be verified:
- thickness of the smooth discs
- planarity of the smooth discs
- wear off of the friction discs
- control cable: foresee a space of +/- 10 mm.
- When driving off in the 5th or 6th gear the speedometer goes up quickly, but the motorcycle does not really accelerate, the clutch is probably worn of.
